CHARACTER
Name: Fujino Asagami
Canon: Kara no Kyoukai
Age: Looks to be around 17
Timeline: A little bit after the climax of their battle, right as she's about to be stabbed by Shiki
If playing another character from the same canon, how will you deal with this?:
Personality: On the surface, Fujino is just what you would expect someone who's a model student to be: Polite, kind, and respectful of others (heck, she'll use honorifics with anybody, really). She doesn't cause any trouble and is helpful to others, so she'll usually try get along with anybody. She is also kind of timid, a bit passive, and reserved, but she’s not above teasing, albeit very lightly, and only with someone whom she considers a friend, nor is she passive enough that she’s an extreme doormat-- like that moment in the cafe where she tries to calm Azaka down after an encounter with Shiki, she will try to diffuse the situation, whether through a polite reminder or other pacifistic means. All in all, she looks to be just about your typical and perfect good girl.
However, underneath Fujino’s facade she is quite mentally unstable and would seem as if she would break at any moment, were it not for the fact that she's barely clinging onto her built-up image. While she’s not out-and-out a complete sadist, she is still quite sadistic in regards to murder; as much as she claims to not enjoy it, she does take some unconscious pleasure in being able to kill, and as twisted as it is, it seems to give her a sense and makes her think it is proof of being alive, since it was the first emotion she felt upon getting back her sense of pain. That doesn’t mean that she’s a cold-blooded killer who wants to kill everybody- in fact, she’s far from it. She is hesitant, but her shambled mind tries to rationalize the murders she commits as only a defense mechanism to hide her abnormality from others, as she doesn’t want anyone to find out about it.
Speaking of which, although her sense of pain has been healed during this point in time and she can feel now, she still tends to pent up about it, since she has been used to not feeling any sort of harm during her life (i.e. When people had asked if her injured leg had hurt, and she merely shook her head). Even if the injury is major, she will try to deny it as much as she can. With emotional pain, she never speaks up about it, as she’s never had experience with it. That isn’t to say that she’s completely apathetic- with the abnormality lifted, she’s currently able to feel other emotions, though sometimes she won’t recognize it on the spot, especially if it’s something extreme like love or hate. With other people, she can, at times, seem pretty disinterested whenever she talks to anyone, though again, it’s only because she doesn’t have much experience in dealing with it. Regardless, she will still try to act interested whenever she can.
Another thing to take note of is that Fujino can be quite persistent. As fragile as she seems, she can be very tenacious and will not stop once she decides to pursue something. This can be either a good or a bad thing, depending on the situation, and sometimes it leads to worse things (like, it was pretty much evident that tracking down the person who escaped her first massacre only made her more insane with each kill). Plus, she can’t stop herself because even if she would want to, she lacks the knowledge to do so. Thus, she’ll keep going until she runs into a huge obstacle in which she can’t avoid in any way (i.e. KnK’s protagonist Shiki, who’s an equal match to her) or until she completely exhausts herself.
In the end, Fujino just wants an ordinary life because she truly wants to be a normal person and wants others to see her in that way too. She assumes that everyone will accept her if she only does good and no one finds out about how broken she is, thus it’s why she strives to be a model citizen, and has been doing so for nearly her entire life, even if it means that she has to limit herself experiences in social scenes. She cannot let one person even know how she really is because she’s worried about being seen as a monster and doesn’t want to be shunned from everyone, so despite all of the internal struggles, she only wants to live.
Background: Here!
Abilities: Fujino’s ability, while seemingly simplistic, is terrifying all the same. She has the Mystic Eyes of Distortion and when activated, she is able to twist and bend anything, provided that they are physical and that they are in her line of sight. They are activated with her eyes, and they cannot be seen by normal means.
First Person: [The video feed suddenly flashes on, though the screen only shows the ceiling for the moment.]
Uhhmm...shouldn’t have eaten this… [It’s followed by low, incoherent muttering, before the view shifts to Fujino, who looks about alive as a zombie.] H-hello, everyone! Sorry to bother you, but-
[Her hand suddenly clasps to her mouth as she tries to hold down a momentary retch, though her complexion begins to change into a light tinge of green.]
Um, my apologies for that. As I was saying...I accidentally ate a bad cupcake, so I was wondering if anyone would happen to have a cure--
[A sudden blur appears on the screen and a clattering sound follows.]
U-ugh- !!
[Yeah, there’s no way she’s holding it in for much longer.]
Third Person: It was going to rain again.
Earlier before, Fujino had been walking in the streets of Ruby City after attending a Sunday sermon from the cathedral. She wasn’t religious- in fact, she hadn’t cared in the slightest how an unseen being could be governing her life. It was merely a routine habit she had gotten from her world, though she hardly missed her life there.
‘I wonder if it will be as heavy as yesterday...’ she thought as she looked up. The whiteness of the clouds had shifted to a light grey and there was a low, distant rumble, yet once it begun, it had ushered in a light shower.
Fujino mouth curved into a slight frown. Honestly, she expected more, but, it wasn’t going to deter her. She wanted to feel the memorable beat that came from the rain, so as crazy as it was, she resolved to stay outside for however long it took.
“Ah- !”
The rumbling was now being accompanied by cacophonous crackling and white-hot flashes as the clouds became a dark shade of grey. The light shower had become quite dense now, and the tiny spattering became huge splashes that went everywhere. Ah yes, there it was-- the cold, wet feeling she had longed for as the droplets seeped through her clothes and touched upon her skin...she would always treasure these moments.
With a hum and a twirl, Fujino set off for home, with not a bother in a world that she looked like an absolute fool to anyone else passing by her for the time being.
